Concerto Competition 2026

In collaboration with the Georgian Bay Symphony, the Grey County Kiwanis Festival of Music is offering a special concerto competition class in 2026. (Note: This is separate from the OMFA competitions.)

Open to any senior voice or instrumental student, this competition is designed to give emerging performers the opportunity to rehearse and perform with the GBS at one of its 2026-27 season concerts.

VOICE APPLICANTS:

The musical selections should not exceed 20 minutes in length.

INSTRUMENTAL APPLICANTS:
Choose a movement or two contrasting movements from the concerto repertoire. The movement or musical selections should not exceed 20 minutes in length.

For all applicants, the music must be in the original key and instrumentation; no arrangements are permitted. Memorization is not required.

ACCOMPANIMENT:
Each applicant must be accompanied by a collaborative pianist, playing a piano reduction of the orchestral parts.

APPLICATION DEADLINE:
January 31, 2026

COMPETITION:
The Concerto Competition class will take place during the 2026 GCKFM April Festival.

ADJUDICATING:
A panel of adjudicators, including GBS Music Director Jeffrey Pollock, will choose the best performance(s) from among the competitors. Winner(s) will be offered a performance with the GBS as part of their 2026-27 season.
